Programs

The Latino Community Center's programs are designed to provide Latinx families with access to the highest quality educational opportunities so they can build a better future for themselves.

We want to equip parents with the tools they need in order to successfully raise healthy and happy children, while also fostering an environment where kids can develop their abilities and reach their academic and career goals. Our programming covers every stage of life, from birth to college.

Promotores is LCC’s program that uses Community Health Workers (CHWs) to meet with and walk along parents with new babies to ensure they are connected to what they need to welcome and raise healthy and happy babies.

They provide educational workshops, and monthly support groups, virtually or in person.

ParentChild+ is LCC’s early childhood home visiting program. This program aims to break the cycle of poverty by helping parents engage with their toddlers early in life via home visits focused on literacy, mathematics, school readiness, and parent-child interaction.

SOYPgh is LCC’s bilingual after-school program.
This program exists to improve academic outcomes for Latino youth, while simultaneously building students’ pride in their native language and heritage.

SOY Pittsburgh Elementary addresses 4 main goals: academic advancement, cultural empowerment, social-emotional development, and family engagement.

The Education Support program offers educational guidance and assistance to the region’s Latino families by addressing any education-related questions and concerns, and providing personalized follow-up and advocacy..

SOMOS Pittsburgh provides students with academic, social, and emotional support through both our mentoring and tutoring programs. Each of our programs offers personalized support to students as they navigate through their academic journey through a careful matching process and in-depth analysis of each students' individual needs.

ALAS is LCC’s bilingual college, and career readiness program for high school and post-secondary students. ALAS focuses on academic skill development and post-secondary preparedness and success.

This program offers personalized support to students as they prepare for a successful future, whether that be applying for college, seeking financial aid, exploring career options, or requesting assistance with post-secondary goals.

Triple P is LCC’s positive parenting evidence-based program. It gives parents simple and practical strategies to help them build strong, healthy relationships with their children that will contribute to a pleasant and productive family life at home.

LCC offers expanded bilingual service coordination and case management to families needing support.

This includes working with dedicated case managers who partner collaboratively with families to advocate for services tailored to individual families' needs.

The Welcome Center provides support to newly arrived and/or established Latinx families within Allegheny County with information and connections to community resources and service providers.

Our programs are created and/or brought to the center at the request of our community. Our approach is to provide tools at every stage of our children's lives, so they can become the best version of themselves!
