Carolina Mejía- Moya

 Carolina, born in Pittsburgh, spent most of her childhood and teenage years in Mexico City. During high school, she returned to Pittsburgh and subsequently graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science in Global and International Studies, focusing on Human Rights and minoring in Political Science. After graduating, she served  with Compass AmeriCorps, empowering refugee youth to navigate the American Education System and providing essential support for their academic integration. Having returned to Pittsburgh during her last year of high school and faced challenges with college applications, she empathizes with newcomers navigating education while pursuing their dreams and goals. She firmly believes that education is a potent tool for achieving success, self-determination, and self-sufficiency in the US. She aspires to continue her career in education, empowering immigrant youth, and supporting underrepresented communities with limited resources.
