Carlos Chueca

College & Career Readiness Program Manager

Carlos M. Chueca joined the Latino Community Center in 2023. Born in Peru, his family moved to Miami, Florida, so he could get a college education. He graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations.

After finishing college, he began to work as an Admissions Counselor for Nova Southeastern University, where he was responsible for assisting students through the college application and admission process. While at NSU, he was part of the NSUnidos committee, where in addition to being a spokesperson for Spanish speaking prospective students and families, he helped translate marketing materials to accommodate and reach the South Florida community. He moved to Pittsburgh in 2020 and continued to support high school students as they navigated the college application process.

His goal is to help Pittsburgh latino/a students and their families understand post secondary options and overcome barriers in Institutions that do not have the resources to assist Spanish speakers.
